The reverse engineering is a relatively young process, raised up with the appearance of laser and photogrammetric scanners on the market.
It is most used for aftermarket accessories and spare parts making, starting with the "points cloud" derived from the product scanning, that once imported in a CAD system, allows to get back to 3D model, with some precision, depending on chosen tolerances defining the off-set error from the original part.
Romano Gaspari Design Division makes use of high precision tools that can guarantee tolerances up to
50 microns (0.05 mm).
Reverse Engineering of the assembly consisting of bumpers, splitters and aerodynamic appendages of the Ferrari 488 Challenge for competition use. Mathematical reconstruction of high definition digital scanning surfaces. Particular attention to detail and surface quality complete a Reverse Engineering work with extremely tight tolerances.
Reverse Engineering of the famous Iveco truck, based on partial scanning and original drawings for a dimensional comparison.
